The WIT Food Story

At WIT Arena we happily apply the thinking and practices underpinning Lean, Green, and Sustainability. We source our food from provenance and this local sourcing is about being at the core of the local community. We define “local produce” as those that are made locally, grown locally, and reared locally – ranging from lamb from the Comeragh Mountains, to oats from Flahavans who proudly use 6th-generation oat growers, to the deep-sea fishing traditions of Dunmore East. The famous “Waterford Blaa” – which enjoys European Commission Protected Geographic Indication status – has become an integral part of our food menus, cherished with local cheeses, sea-salted pork, and fresh leaves and vegetables. Additionally, we celebrate over 20 years of Fairtrade products on our campus, and our vision for our customer is right first time every time. We trust and hope you enjoy your time with us at this conference.

Testimonials

" As a speaker at many conferences across the world I get to benchmark the different events. Many of these conferences involve ‘speaking slots for cash’ and so the quality can be variable. What is different about the WIT event is that the speakers are all invited because they are true enthusiasts, don’t get paid and have something useful to say. What they are talking about is at, or close to, the leading edge. Strange but true, this event is the largest lean conference in Europe and almost certainly amongst the very best. It is also in Ireland and what is more it's free! "
Professor Peter Hines, Chair of  S A Partners and Visiting Professor at WIT Business School
" The WIT Lean Forum is the best of its kind in Ireland that we have been to – great sharing of knowledge by practitioners and companies who were happy to share all aspects of their Lean and Enterprise Excellence journey – both what worked well and what didn’t, which is always great to see. It really is the perfect blend of industry, academia and experts in the field – coming together for the greater good. The event has restored our faith in such conferences - especially as it has real value-add for organisations of all sizes, including technology companies like ours. It provides a great opportunity to network with like-minded people who see the benefits of sharing knowledge and experiences. "
Liam Curham, CEO, Dataworks.
“ For anyone who wants to learn more about the transformational power of ‘Lean Manufacturing and Management’ attending the WIT Annual Lean Forum is a must. You will hear from speakers who have successfully implemented lean, as well as the academic view from global lean thought leaders such as Peter Hines. A unique element of the Forum is the series of parallel workshops delivered by industry practitioners on lean subjects including Standard Work, A3 Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping, and so on, which provides delegates with a new tool or system to help them on their lean journey. Oh and by the way, I forget to mention it’s free. It’s no wonder that within a few years the WIT Annual Lean Forum has established itself as the leading Lean Forum in Ireland for bringing practitioners together from across all sectors, services and manufacturing, public and private to increase their understanding of lean, exchange knowledge, and network. "
Noel Hennessy, former CI Director, Lake Region Medical - an Integer company.

“ Having attended a number of lean conferences in both Ireland & the UK, I found that the Lean Forum in WIT is one of the best for anyone who is either starting on their journey, or for those looking for answers to difficult questions. The format of speakers & workshops caters very well to the diverse group attending. The workshops are a great way of getting discussion going on particular topics with a lot of the learnings coming from the cross industry discussions. The quality & diversity of the speakers from academia to service & industrial practitioners creates an interesting diversity of thought. I’ve always come away from the conference with loads of interesting ideas & contacts. It is a credit to the guys at WIT for putting it on every year. ”
Shane Maher, Director Production Planning & Logistics, Joints Reconstruction & CMW, DePuy Synthes.
