Innovation Excellence Programme - facilitating employee engagement through daily improvement

This session will examine the development and evolution of our Innovation Excellence Programme which enables substantial employee engagement and a consistent flow of improvement ideas.

This programme has a substantial impact on our site with hundreds of improvement suggestions being submitted annually. Rapid response with consistent and fair recognition are key to its success. 

Bio

Waters Technologies (Ireland) Ltd. was established in Wexford in 1997 as part of Waters Corporation. It manufactures world class mass spectrometers and chromatographic consumables. The site is also heavily involved in the design, development and manufacturing of IVD reagent kits. It currently employs 340 people at its facility in Wexford Town. The company's lean transformation programme has been one of the key enablers of the site’s success over the past number of years.

James Browne
is the Continuous Improvement Programme Manager at Waters Technologies (Ireland) Ltd. He qualified with a 1st class honours degree in Physics and Chemistry from Dublin Institute of Technology in 1997. He continued his studies in Dublin City University graduating with a 1st class honours MSc Instrumental Analysis in 1998. He later qualified as a Lean Six-Sigma Black Belt from Air Academy Associates in Colorado Springs in 2007.

James has held a range of positions in the Environmental Analysis and Pharmaceutical Industries. He joined Waters Technologies in 2004 as a Process Chemist moving into his current role as Continuous Improvement Programme Manager in 2007. This programme has been very successful in achieving and maintaining substantial benefits for the site.

Ciarán Doyle is part of the Continuous Improvement Programme at Waters Technologies (Ireland) Ltd. He qualified with an honours degree in Architecture Technology from Waterford Institute of Technology in 2007, and he is presently completing the Master of Business in Lean Practice at Waterford Institute of Technology.

Ciaran has held a wide range of positions in the Construction Industry, Medical Device, and Manufacturing Industries. Ciaran had to diversify in professions and subsequently joined Waters Technologies in 2012 as a General Operator. He quickly progressed through the company gaining valuable experience across the Mass Spectrometry Business, and he commenced within his CI role in 2015 which facilitates the Mass Spectrometry and Data Configuration Businesses.
